Fighting Irish vs. Midshipmen OddsShark Matchup Report

Notre Dame Fighting Irish

After racking up 46.3 points per game in a 3-0 SU and ATS stretch in their previous three games, the Fighting Irish stalled on offense in a too-close-for-comfort 19-14 win over Pittsburgh.

Ian Book threw two interceptions in the game, but he came through when it counted to lead Notre Dame on a touchdown drive in the fourth quarter to stay unbeaten. Notre Dame has had a bye week to work on its mistakes and to prepare for the final five games of the season.

The Fighting Irish are 7-0 SU and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games coming out of a bye week per the OddsShark College Football Database.

Navy Midshipmen

Navy has won at least five games in each of its last 15 seasons and has gone bowling with at least seven wins in 14 of those 15 seasons. That string of success is very much in jeopardy this season as the Midshipmen are only 2-5 SU and 1-6 ATS through seven games and have a brutal upcoming stretch against Notre Dame, at Cincinnati and at UCF.

The Midshipmen have been bogged down by a defense that has allowed 420 yards per game and 34.3 points per game. Navy is 0-5 ATS over its last five games.

Saturday’s total is set at 54.5. The OVER is 6-2 in the last eight meetings between Notre Dame and Navy.

Four of the last five games between these two teams have been decided by 10 points or less. Navy generally gives Notre Dame some trouble, but with the Fighting Irish entering this game off of a bye week and the struggles the Midshipmen have had this season, this game may buck that trend.
